We are proud and happy to work with many local artists and designers at Bell's Coffee & Design, and to sell their amazing art in our store. Meet artist No. 3...
Akiko Tsuji is a multi-faceted desiger, creating one of a kind, handmade ceramics and exclusive women’s wear.
We got introduced to Akiko through her husband, Mark, who was a regular customers at Bell's. When we first met Akiko we could tell that she is a special person, and that we want to work with her. We all got so inspired, and together we came up with the idea of small planters which Akiko designs just for us. This year Akiko and her family moved from Brooklyn to San Francisco, but she still sends us her planters, vases, as well as two new magazines she just published.
Inspired by the Bauhaus school of thought, she continues to use her sense and skill of designing and creating her world of broad artistic expression. This includes fashion, pottery, jewelry, painting and publishing. Now based in the Bay Area, she has worked over 15 years in design at the Brooklyn based studio Kon/struktur.
Her designs reflect simplicity, modern architecture, art, and wabi-sabi approach. The aesthetic is sometimes described as a beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”.
